Fussell's Shop - Since 1936
In 1936, Norman Fussell and his wife, Billie, had the dream of opening their own store. From that dream, Fussell’s Dry Goods opened on Main Street of Dickson in March of that same year. The first location was at the north corner of what is now Fussell’s Shop. Later, with an expanded staff and more merchandise, Fussell’s moved across the alley, to 115 N. Main Street.
Norman and Billie had three daughters, Anne, Norma Jean and Carol. Mr. Norman passed away in April of 1980 and left behind a vibrant functioning business that he had dedicated his life to. His daughter, Anne, took over management until she and her sisters sold the business in September of 2013. Tim Spann, the current owner, bought the business from the Fussell family. Tim and his family, all born and raised in Dickson County, are now operating the clothing store, still by the same name… Fussell’s Shop. Long time employees, Leroy Winstead and Buddy Tummins are still employed with Fussell’s, with over 90 years of experience combined.
Although the prices of some of our clothing has increased from the prices of 1936, the value is still the same after 80 years of business. The Fussell’s name is still on the door and the dreams of Norman Fussell are being kept alive by its owners and faithful employees.
